Self-Clean Cleaning Guide

If you are conducting the cleaning yourself, below is a helpful guide for you to use ensure you have done everything that we expect when preparing the home for the next tenant. We will inspect the home after your departure and reserve the right to charge you for a clean if this is not done satisfactorily. All environmentally friendly cleaners should be in the bucket situated in the laundry tub along with rags and mops etc. Any dirty tea towels, dishcloths, and rags should be left in the laundry tub for our inspection staff to collect.

Kitchen, Lounge, and Dining Areas
  • Dishwasher (for homes that have one) – load in the morning so the cycle can complete and you can unload it.
  • Wash and dry all other dishes and cooking utensils and return to the correct storage area.
  • Wipe out fridge and ensure freezer has no items left behind. Please leave refrigerators on.
  • If used, wipe out oven and ensure any trays etc used are clean. Leave oven power on please.
  • If used, clean stove tops including under cooking rings.
  • Remove rubbish from kitchen bin. Follow the instructions on the fridge for guidelines on recycling and refuse.
  • Wipe down all tables, benches, and surfaces that have been used.
  • If used, clean out microwave.
  • Please leave TV and DVD switched on and decoder power leads in place.
  • Vacuum and/or mop all floors using floor cleaner provided.
  • Cut kindling and restock firewood supply in wood basket if the home has a fire and has been used.
 Bedrooms
  • Any hired linen and towels can be placed in blue laundry bag provided and left inside the home.
  • Fold duvet covers and blankets and leave at the end of the bed.
  • Please ensure the electric blankets are unplugged.
  • Vacuum floors.
 Bathrooms, Toilets, and Laundry
  • Clean mirrors and glass doors with glass cleaning product provided.
  • Wipe dry shower tray and walls ensuring hair and soap residue are removed.
  • If used, clean bath.
  • Mop floors using floor cleaner provided.
  • Clean in and around toilet using all-purpose disinfectant provided.
  • Turn off all heated towel rails and underfloor. Unplug washing machine and dryer if possible.
  • Empty rubbish bin, if provided.
 Outside
  • If you have used the BBQ, make sure you have cleaned it ($30 fee for failing to do so) and return the gas bottle to the office.
  • Pick up any rubbish, smoke butts etc that you may have left.
  • Return outdoor furniture and umbrella to the original storage place - normally in the garage.
  • If you are in a pet friendly home, please clean up after your pet.
 Upon Departure
  • Lock all doors and windows and ensure the house is secure when departing.
  • Turn of all lights including outside.
  • Return keys to the lockbox.
